Erste Hilfe zum Ende der Fastenzeit

Zum Ende der Fastenzeit machen sich fast alle Indonesier auf in die Heimat ihrer Eltern, bzw. in das Dorf oder den Teil einer meist kleinen Stadt aus der sie kommen. So wie bei uns zu Weihnachten ja alles nach Hause fährt. Die Eisenbahn setzt Sonderzüge ein, es gibt Extra Busse und Busterminals und auch der Flughafen ist voll. (more…)

PMI Batam Youth Camp

Today we are on the way to Batam a island south of Singapore that belongs to Indonesia’s Riau proince. PMI will have a youth meeting with youth from all over Indonesia and the neigboring countries Red Cross societies. The theme of the meeting will be: Diversity in culture, one in action

We will be joined by volutneers and youth from: the Cambodian Red Cross Society, Lao Red Cross, Malaysian Red Crescent Society, Myanmar Red Cross Society, The Philippine National Red Cross, Singapore Red Cross, Thai Red Cross Society, Timor Leste Red Cross Society. (more…)

Infos about Jumbara asean

I got my hand to some more Information of the Jumbara asean, which is the South East Asian Youth Red Cross meeting, that we will be attending from today in Batam a island off Singapore in Indonesia.

See also my last blogpost. I’m a little embarrased, but we will come there virtually empty handed, since neither we nor the delegation has any material in form of pins, flyers or any other stuff we will be able to share there. I built this two posters from the stuff we got send from Germany as power points. But German Youth Red Cross has a good website with many Ideas: IdeenNetz that helped. (more…)

Youth Red Cross Competition

Painting for PMRLast weekend we had the big provincial youth red cros competition. 45 schools from all across Bengkulu Province most of them with 20 students each competed in their knowledge of Red Cross History, First Aid Skills and Disaster Prepardness. Despite that the programm inculded a game show, a talk show to have interaction with the board and information from the sponsors the Bank of Indonesia.

The students are aged 11- 16 years and are member of one of the Yout Red Cross clubs in the schools. German Red Cross runs a school based disaster prepardness programm here in the province and many schools benefit from this as well.
